Are you looking for a paradise full of nature, adventure, and relaxation? Curacao has everything you need. From beautiful white beaches and lovely national parks to cozy dining spots. Here, we share some of our favorite Curacao tips that you definitely shouldn’t miss!

The beaches

Our resort is located near some beautiful small beaches where you can snorkel and dive to discover the stunning underwater world of Curacao. We’re happy to recommend all the options on Dushi Curacao. How about Lagun, where you can snorkel in a very nice spot? Playa Porto Marie, where you can enjoy the company of pigs that sometimes cool off in the sea. Playa Piskado is another great spot where you have a good chance of seeing sea turtles. The beaches of Kleine and Grote Knip, Playa Forti, and Cas Abou beach are all located on this side of the island.

National parks

Curacao has three national parks. The Christoffel National Park is the largest and most impressive. Climb the Sint Christoffelberg (the highest point on the island, 377 meters) for a beautiful view, but be prepared for a tough climb. Go in the morning when it is still cool, wear good walking shoes and take enough water with you. The 2,000 hectare park offers various walking routes and you have the chance to spot unique flora and fauna, such as the small Curacao deer or a colorful hummingbird. You don’t necessarily have to go to the national park for the hummingbird, we also spot them regularly at our own adults only resort!

We also have Shete Boka nearby. Shete Boka means “seven inlets/ bays” in Papiamento. This is the nesting area for three species of sea turtles. There are two hiking routes, and you can also drive through the park. You shouldn’t miss Boka Tabla when you’re in the park. It’s a magical cave accessible from the land, where you can hear and see the clear blue waves crashing in from the sea.

Dining out

The island has many small restaurants, bars, and terraces. You’ll find plenty of dining options in Willemstad, but there’s also a lot to explore near our resort.

• Japie’s, an outdoor pub where you can enjoy local beers and drinks on weekends.
  
• Want to eat out deliciously? Then stop by E Lanternu. A small restaurant with delicious cuisine. Note: it’s ‘cash only’ here.
• Enjoying food with your feet in the sand? Visit Karakter Curacao for the real beach lounge experience. The Coral Estate beach offers stunning views and fresh food. Perfect for a romantic dinner.
• Above this restaurant is another nice rooftop with a beautiful view over the sea: Koraal Curacao.
• Another unique place is Marfa’s Good Hangout (Williwood), where you can taste the famous Williburger, made from goat meat. Goat meat is widely eaten in Curacao. It is also used to make stews.
• If you’re looking for a night of karaoke and fun, Shelterrock Paradise is the perfect choice. Remember to book in advance as it fills up fast! They prepare a delicious meal in a coconut, filled with your favourite ingredients. The coconuts are put on the hot coals hours in advance, so they are perfectly ready when you arrive. The buffet to go with it makes it complete!
• Hofi Mango is also close to our resort. This former mango and sugar plantation is now owned by Jandino Asporaat. Here you can enjoy beautiful walks, learn more about the history and even visit a distillery, as well as find a restaurant where chef Willy Balentina rules the roost. Balentina learned his trade at star restaurants such as Librije and you can taste that in his dishes!

Museums

Curacao has a rich history that you can explore in various museums. Not far from us is Landhuis Knip (Kenepa), on the former Knip plantation. It houses the Tula Museum, which tells the story of the 1795 slave revolt.

Another must-visit is Kas di pal’i maishi – Kunuku house, which offers a glimpse into the life and living conditions of former slaves.

If you love art, the street-art wandeltocht in Willemstad is a fun way to explore the city.
